Step 2: Record Your Performance

You do not need a recording studio. Most winning entries are filmed on a smartphone. What matters is energy, clarity, and authenticity.

Recording tips:

• Film in a well-lit space. Natural light from a window works great. Avoid filming with a bright light behind you.
• Use headphones or earbuds to hear the backing track while you sing, so it does not bleed into your recording.
• Stabilize your phone using a tripod, a stack of books, or a friend. Shaky footage is distracting.
